How To Check Your VOIP Software - Donald Clark Plan B
Voice Over Internet Protocol allows you to talk to anyone in the world free through the Internet, but here's how to check your VOIP when things go wrong.

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a multi functional tool that allows you to make phone calls through the Internet. How it works is that the telephone voice signals coverts to a digital signal through the Internet, which then converts back to the other end, so it is possible to speak to any individual with a home phone.

Software programs can be added to the computer for use with a headset and microphone, adapters can be used with a home phone, or it is possible to use a VoIP dedicated phone which looks like and will act like the normal home phone, but it contains a chip to further improve the quality of calls.

Use Skype

 1. Download Skype. Millions of users can make free video to Skype calls, or there are other various programs where you can call a cell or home phone at reduced rates through this VoIP software program.
 2. Sign up with Skype. It will ask for a username and password, and once you have added these to Skype, you will be logged in instantly.
 3. Test that your headset is working. Plug your headphone and microphone into the computer and click on the “Echo123 test.” This is free and it will ask you to talk into the microphone after the beep. It will then record your voice. If you hear no sound, you may be experiencing technical difficulties.
 4. Check that you have installed audio hardware, and if you have this on your computer, do you have the latest version? The manufacturer’s website often has the most up to date driver.
 5. Make sure you have selected the correct audio input device. It may just be that you have selected the fax modem rather than the USB headset. Are you using another software program, which requires sound, and could this be the cause of the error? Disable any other problem that could be causing this audio troubleshooting.
 6. Try this next step if you are still having problems with your external microphone. In Skype, click on tools, and then click options, general, and audio settings. Select your chosen microphone in the Microwave field. Try Echo123 again.
 7. Click on start menu, and then choose all programs, accessories, entertainment, and volume control. From the volume control option, choose options, and then properties. From the mixer device, select your chosen microphone (or choose the most appropriate soundcard, e.g. voice recognition software or MP3 dancer, if used). Then choose recording from the adjust volume option. Check to make sure that microphone is selected? Select OK.
 8. Adjust the level of the volume for the microphone, but do make sure that it is selected in the recording control option. Click on Echo123 again.
 9. Check to make sure that the software on your computer is up to date. If it is, check your Internet connection. Most of the time it is better to unplug your Internet cable for ten seconds, and then plug back in.

I have been reading a lot about having a VOIP system for your business and the improvement in your communications that it can bring but to you business but i have been weary about taking that step. I have looked into a Dallas VoIP communications option. But its definitely good to understand how it works better! thanks

great article. I feel my company is in better condition today with the help of <a href="http://www.southerntelephone.com>VoIP. Every company should at least look into it and consider this.
